RIVERPORT LANDINGS WASN’T YOUR TYPICAL PROJECT. IN FACT, IT WAS LIKE NOTHING WE’D EVER DEVELOPED. To accomplish our vision, we truly had to create an intergenerational community—the first of its kind in Kentucky—serving residents across the demographic spectrum including youth aging out of foster care, young families, and seniors. Essentially, it was comprised of three projects all wrapped into one: Riverport Family Scholar House, Riverport Family, and Riverport Senior.
On August 29th, 2018, Jake Brown, our Founder & Principal, along with our partners on this project, cut the ribbon and officially opened Riverport Landings for 412 new and excited families, seniors, and single parents to start their next chapter. Although many took the stage that day to express words of wisdom, hope and congratulations, the most profound statement came from Family Scholar House participant, Kayln Maddox, who shared how this new opportunity was allowing her to pursue her degree in nursing while simultaneously raising her daughter in a safe and stable environment. “Tears filled my eyes. I could not contain all the emotions the opportunity to live in our own space, to focus on school, and continue to grow as a mother and a student.”
